2threads Tips On How To Be A Fashion Blogger

Fashion blogging seems to be taking over not only the blogosphere, but the world  – so what’s going to make you stand out against the millions of tumblr accounts and bloggers out there? Well, reading fashion blogs for a living here at 2threads, we’ve got a few tips to help get you started.

1. Love your blog and everyone else will

It’s the simplest advice, and it works: your blog will only ever work if it is something you are passionate about. The most successful fashion bloggers are those who base their blogs around themselves and what they love. Starting from a News Years resolution to become more creative with her fashion choices, blogger Poppy Dinsey created her blog “What I Wore Today” in 2010 and decided to post a photo of her outfit each day of the year. Others soon starting following her trend and posting photos of themselves on her blog. What I Wore Today has now flourished into Poppy’s own full time business whatpoppywore.com

2. Photos, photos and more photos!

Fashion blogging does not have to be limited to just writing. If photography or art is a passion of yours, then share it on the blogosphere. Since beginning his blog Jak and Jill in 2005, Canadian born Tommy Ton has climbed the fashion ladder. Internationally renowned, he now covers  fashion weeks around the world on Style.com and GQ.com.

3. Steal her style

They say imitation is the biggest form of flattery, so why not get others to copy your style? Post your own ideas for fashion trends, new buys and latest loves . Your Only Black Swan blogger Lauren Hernandez adds a personal touch to her fashion blog posting her own fashion shoots:

“I guess it’s important to be true to yourself, as even though your readers may not know you personally – you are your best at being you and people will soon enough pick up on this”.

4. Keep up to date

If you love what you do, then this shouldn’t be a problem. We live in a tech-savvy world so keeping up to date us crucial for a successful blog. Lauren Hernandez  told 2threads she believes the rise of fashion blogs is “a strong indication” of what’s become of the fashion world today due to the influence of social media and “going digital”.

Blogs are easy to access and provide instant, dynamic content that cater for the immediacy and ”see now, want now, eat now, shop now” attitude people experience today”.

5. Be yourself

The best way to put yourself out there is to establish your online profile; critique fashion shows, trends and celebrity styles (how do you think Perez Hilton got started?) but most importantly stay true yourself when doing so. Creator of Blond Freckled Girl blog is Amsterdam-based blogger Sophie Van Oirschot, who spoke to 2threads about the importance of “being  pure” in the world of  blogging:

“I love it when bloggers are different from all those mainstream fashion blogs out there. Even though it probably sounds really cliche, I think you have to be yourself. Post about things you love, photographs or people that inspire you and make it your own little inspiration- and lifestyle diary.  Be yourself and most of all: be pure”.

    I
went to Doll House to by a Sherri Hill dress 1403 for the best price quoted
$450 for my daughter.  I was told that Doll House has a registry and
that I would be the only one wearing this style dress at my
formal.  When I arrived at my formal, there were two 2 other girls
wearing exactly the same style dress and they also got it from dollhouse I
can’t begin to tell you how angry and sick that made me feels.  I
will not be taking my daughter there for her year 12 formal.
