Best Dressed Movie Characters

Movie Stars already have a lot going for them, they look better than normal people, but in a film the right costume is of vital importance. It adds to their character- they aren\’t playing themselves anymore- so they need as much help as they can get to make the movie a hit.

Empire came out with a top 10 list of best dressed characters and some of them I have to disagree with (there\’s Brad Pitt in Fight Club) so I\’m making my own list of best dressed movie characters.

1. Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn) Breakfast At Tiffany\’s

Audrey made the black dress, pearls and beehive work as well as the leggings and knotted shirts. She was scattered but she did it well. Her look spawned dozens of copy cats but nobody does it as well as Audrey.

2. Annie Hall (Diane Keaton) Annie Hall

This was a look that started a fashion revolution, as well as forming the basis of Diane Keaton’s wardrobe, the combination of baggy trousers, waistcoats and occasional girlie touches (floaty dresses, floppy hats) defined the late 1970s and summed up Annie’s carefree, eccentric and slightly neurotic character before Keaton said a word. Annie Hall showed women they could dress manly and pull it off- now if only Diane Keaton could do the same.

3. Carrie Bradhsaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) Sex and The City: Movie

SJP\’s Carrie may seem like somewhat of a cliched choice but, come on, she\’s Carrie Bradshaw- it would be a crime to not include her. Carrie mixes vintage and designer pieces with effortless ease, her style evolved from the TV series. She moved away from her major obsession with Manolo\’s and steered toward Choo and Dior. Carrie\’s style is not easy to emulate and does not suit everyone but she captivated millions of women- her style continues to strike true today.

4. Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts) Pretty Woman

Julia Roberts as the hooker turned rich girl- a happily ever after story. While her trashy hooker clothes weren\’t the nicest she did make knee high boots look good. As she did with Gere\’s white collared shirt and her "rich girl" clothes. They aren\’t in style now but she did look elegant and glamorous- probably the best transformation ever.

5. Maverick (Tom Cruise) Top Gun

Leather jacket and Aviators- need I say more?

I\’m sure there\’s so many more move characters who have inspired numerous fashion trends- so educate me. Who do you think should be on this list?
