Erdem SS12 at London Fashion Week
Shown in the recently renovated Savoy Hotel, Erdem’s Spring 2012 was everything that you expect from the favourite designer of the First Lady of America and a certain Duchess. In either a nod to the surroundings, or a clever trick from the designers PR team the show started with powder blue and white floral pieces, an almost matching colour scheme to the room at the Savoy.
The more muted tone from “The Master of Florals” continued through the show with pale yellows, blue prints against off white backgrounds, off set with boater hats that wouldn’t look out of place in a remake of Picnic at Hanging Rock. For all the florals and school girl vibe of the show, there was still a little bit of edge. “More undressed, more décolleté, more skin, nape, and spine then before” is how Moraliogu described his newest collection where sheerness in the way of lace overlay-ed on nude, off the shoulder cuts and cleavage all appeared in the seemingly conservative dresses. But the edge did not stop there. Showing a more modern approach to his feminine pieces Moraliogu also added a little structure and suiting juxtaposed with mid length lace skirts with crisp white shirts and lace details with tight straight legged pants.
