Fashion Palette Event Review

Fashion Palette was held over Friday and Saturday and marked and inspirational showing of the Spring and Summer 12/13 collection of designers ranging from Bettina Liano to Provocator, to newcomers like Lilyhart and Isle Couture and many in between at Carriageworks.  

The runway was lined with hanging white roses, and the lighting radiated off the white runway. Guests sat eagerly awaiting the talent and beauty that was set to glide down the runway… And it did not disappoint.

Anaessia captivated the audience as her ballet inspired collection saw a showing of elegant ballerina’s lining the stage, pirouetting and leaping down the runway. As they tiptoed off the stage, exquisitely designed gowns   with a heavy focus on tulle and flower trimmings transcended onto the runway. The colour palette channelled various shades of ivory and baby pink with delicate lace details highlighting the poignant, yet beautiful interpretation of the childhood dream to become a ballerina.

Lilyhart was one of my favourite collections. The flirty prints with a hint of neon that was present in her designs was a fun interpretation on the fashions that will hitting the streets in a few months. Lilyhart rejuvenated the print clash trend by mixing stripes with embellishment as well as combining neon trimmings on a range of pieces. Washout colours were another big hit for the designer, and her jewel and colour combos teamed up with textured materials provided a great contrast for the looming spring wardrobe.

My Wild Love’s animal inspired designs formed the ‘Voices In The Wind’ collection. With each model donning face and body paint as they walked down to runway with a small feather attached to their wrist, one was left to marvel the crochet dresses and skirts. The earthy feel of the collection was emulated through suede and the carefree boho visual of each piece.

With such a fantastic turn-out and an abundance of talented designers sharing their SS 12/13 collection, Fashion Palette is sure to continue for many years.
