Fashion Trend for 2009: Charm Bracelets

These days it seems the more bracelets you can pile on the better, and a definite fashion trend for 2009 is charm bracelets. The re-emergence of this eighties-esque trend (think Madonna circa 1984) can be attributed to editor of US ELLE, Kate Lanphear (above), who is rarely seen without her signature stack of chains, watches and charm bracelets on her ever-stylish arms.

The key to getting this look right is to make like Kate and keep the outfit sleek and simple. Think skinny pants and tailored jackets in a neutral colour palette – you want to reference the 80’s, not look as if that’s where you belong! Another look to avoid when wearing this trend is jewelry overload – keep the focus on your arms, and give the necklace a miss (or wear a simple pendant), and stick to stud earrings.
