Fringing, folk and luxe lace
Even though summer is fading fast, don’t let your inner-hippie fret. This winter the silhouette is getting a major overhaul, with new shapes and lines emerging.
Fringing is definitely taking off – but this is one trend that is strictly accessories-only. After all, you don’t want to look like Chicago jazz-dancer left over from the 20s. Look out for beautiful leather shredded bags, boots and heels in classic black or vintage tan.
Folk luxe is taking an international twist – from Russian-style fur vests with intricate embroidery, to Egyptian harem pants which ooze style and comfort, to heavy metal stud detailing straight out of the British army.
However, if baggy pants, exaggerated shoulders and tight pencil skirts aren’t for you, then get ready to be acquainted with your best friend – lace. White lace is always slightly reminiscent of your grandma’s tablecloth, so this winter its black lace’s turn in the spotlight. Black lace is the rock-goth sister in the lace family; the black sheep as it may be. Toughen up pretty pieces with lace stockings or balance the dark colours with a hint of skin in just the right places.
