When I first started seeing Jessica Simpon, J.Lo and other celebrities wearing over-the-knee boot trend, I wasn\’t a big fan. It reminded me of watching Pretty Woman and not really feeling Julia Roberts\’ style then, and I was ambivalent again in 2008.

I scrunched my nose at the over-the-knee high heel boot, like Jessica Simpson\’s because they are too high on the thigh and J.Lo\’s because they are too shiney. Slowly, I came around to certain over-the-knee styles but I\’m particular as to which looks are best. I walk a lot so I\’m partial to flat shoes of any type; also most of the flat styles of over-the-knee boots are made of great materials like suede and worn leather.

I\’m pretty in love with Blake Lively\’s look over all, but those boots are beyond amazing. They look great with that skirt and they\’re easy-going–can\’t get any better. Except that I bet this over-the-knee boot would also look great with pants, unlike Rihanna\’s over-the-knee high heeled boots. She paired shiney and clingy over-the-knee high heel boots with a really cute sweater dress–to be blunt, it\’s confusing. The dress is sexy but it\’s not over-the-top and the shoes are too sexy and loud. Usually Rihanna is a trend-setter, but I hope this one doesn\’t take off; like I said, not a fan of the "Pretty Woman" look.
Anne Hathoway, Kate Moss, Hayden Panettierre, and Hillary Duff in over-the-knee boot trend
First of all, what the heck is Anne Hathoway doing in that outfit? If i\’m not mistaken it\’s a still from her movie, The Devil Wears Prada, but the look is all wrong. Her over-the-knee boots look like leggings and then she wears leggings?! So now she looks like she\’s wearing boot-pants. Kate Moss makes the same mistake with leggings but her boots are suede, saving her from fashion faux-pas. Hayden Panettierre\’s fashion sense is usually more right on than off, but I\’m just not digging her style here. It\’s harsh, I know, but she looks like a street walker. I don\’t know if this is outfit was worn on a TV/movie filming set but I hope she never tries to hail a cab in it. Now, last but not least, Hillary Duff–I love her over-the-knee boots! They\’re slouchy leather flats and they\’re just enough rock-n-roll and sass. Yes, she\’s got leggings on too, but since they\’re grey it\’s completely forgivable.
