Kristen Stewart: Face of Balenciaga Perfume
Ditching smelly sneakers for scents, Kristen Stewart has been signed as the face of the Spanish label Balenciaga’s new perfume. Details of the product have so far been kept under wraps, but those who dubbed Stewart as a “fashion pariah” due to her gothic style and low key look will be hastily eating their words come the campaign launch later this year.
Kristen maintains that: ’Balenciaga has always stood out to me’
‘Even when I first began to consider fashion and admittedly rarely knew the brand I was wearing, I always recognised and loved Balenciaga. The brand is just cool. That’s the way it is. I feel drawn to it. It provokes on a number of levels. It isn’t afraid or contrived. It hits a very cool balance.’
The 21-year old Twlight star is a new addition to the Balenciaga tribe, who signed Charlotte Gainsbourg as the face of the first scent, which launched in 2010. Stewart’s relaxed working style has reportedly turned her into a sartorial outcast – with ‘very few people wanting to work with her.’
Last year a source told US magazine Star: ‘She has grubby nails, ratty sneakers and bad attitude. Very few people want to work with her because she doesn’t want to look good.’
Stewart strides on, nonchalant about the speculations evident during recent red carpet premiers where she swapped her black stilettos heels for her Nike kicks!
Balenciaga’s creative director, Nicolas Ghesquiere certainly disagrees with the critics and maintains that: ‘Kristen embodies the modernity of the new Balenciaga fragrance with her unique sensibility and intelligence. She shares the radical spirit of Balenciaga.’
