Lookbook: Something Else By Natalie Wood
The S/S 2012 collection from Something Else by Natalie Wood is called ‘Metamorphosis’ and is inspired by the whimsical elements of change. Just like the transformation of a caterpillar to a butterfly, this collection embodies the complex process of physical metamorphoses and reflects it in a luxe and decorative aesthetic, representative of new beginnings and change.
Boasting intricate prints, delicate shapes and unexpected garment construction, ‘Metamorphosis’ draws us into the Something Else garden. An intricate blend of art and fashion as Wood has employed patterns by artists Georgina Cullum and George Barnes playing with proportions in a mischievous manner while the range of textures adds multiple dimensions to this modern range.
The colour palette reflects the soft pastels predicted to avalanche our wardrobes come spring, yet wintery hues like deep russet reds, royal and French blue, and pollen yellow will continue to maintain their existing presence.
We love the balance projected throughout the collection between feminine shapes and androgynous tailoring. The range also extends to accessories constructed from the softest leather from book-bags to backpacks.
“It signifies a new beginning for the brand. Metamorphosis is appropriate in channeling yet another strong and sophisticated Something Else heroine. She’s nerdy, yet always inherently cool!” - Something Else
