RAFW DAY 2: Rachel Gilbert SS11/12

Our first show at RAFW Day 2 was Rachel Gilbert and she definitely set the standards high. I was blown away by the angelic and elegant gowns that graced the runway. The show started with a single violin playing, from here we knew it was going to be a show to remember. It was all about whites, blacks and splendid splashes of lime that made this SS11/12 collection to die for.

The spring summer show commenced with gowns in champagne and silver. Every piece was flawless. Gilbert played with interesting cut outs and one shoulder dresses. There were dresses of all lengths that were immaculately structured. Very glam and very elegant. Garments were of varying textures, and met perfection with beading and sequin embellishments.

The continuity of ruffles on a variety of gowns brought some edge to the collection. This was in black, white and new colour of the season, lime! But what made all head turns were the floor length ruffled skirts in lime and black!

Neck lines were dramatic and varied from style to style.  Don’t worry, apart from the gorgeous floor length and glamorous gowns there was a presence of more relaxed wear. Tailored blazers, kept the style modern and chic with lovely white embellishments to go with it. Then there were relaxed lime shorts and singlets.  The collection was immaculate and Gilbert definitely  kept us mesmerized through out the entire show.
