RAFW DAY 5: Saint Augustine Academy SS11/12

The runway was lined with soft white daisies, which got us thinking, what did Saint Augustine Academy have up their sleeve this Spring Summer. RAFW is ending, but the ‘Love & Height’ collection was fresh and energetic. There was a varying palette with blacks and whites, a little denim, soft and elegant nudes and feminine paisley prints. And we just thought wow they have given us everything!

Saint Augustine kept surprising us at RAFW, with a versatile collection ranging from a cowboy western,  to hippy/boho and then clean tailored black and white garments. This year, designer Alvin Manalo was influenced by Thom Wolfe’s book, Eclectic Kool-Aid Acid Test taking us on a journey through the rocking 60′s!!! There was leather on blazers, fringing on pants, feminine paisley maxi dresses and  tailored pussy bow blouses.

Moving away from designs of masculine structure, Saint Augustine Academy gave us chic and feminine flair. Manolo succeeded in finding influence from an era of hard edge style, organic form, and psychedelic lifestyles, and transforming these ideas into a modern and inspirational Spring Summer Collection.
