Sixties Trend Fashion Pieces For Winter 2012
It was the decade that broke most of the fashion traditions, with style icons like Audrey Hepburn, Edie Sedgwick and Natalie Wood, and now the retro fashion of the swinging sixties has returned to us. Here’s a few of 2Threads staple wardrobe pieces to send your closet back in time, whether you want to rock the feminist, the mod or the late 60′s psychedelic trends.
Capes -Girls with bigger busts will benefit more from a long-line cape as it’s figure skimming but will still keep you toasty warm in winter. Petite girls will look better in a fitted coat rather than a cape.
Minidresses – The A-line minidress is a classic 60′s look, whether you go for graphic prints or a block of colour, make sure it’s cleanly cut.
Patterns – Stick to a palette of black, white, navy, mustard and red (think Mod) or go for heritage patterns like herringbone, tartan and houndstooth.
Wide Stripes – Wide stripes are versatile, nailing the nautical and Mod trends in one.
Knee high Boots – Knee high boots are back in, but if that’s not your thing – opt for brogues and socks as a retro alternative to tights.
Where to get it:
Jayson Brunsdon – boxy cropped jackets, peter pan collars
Carl Kapp – Sculptural shifts, razor-cut throats in pop-bright shades
French Connection – Black shifts that are affordable
