Sofia Coppola Married in Azzedine Alaïa

Director and film royalty Sofia Coppola made a gorgeous bride in a lavender gown by Azzendine Alaïa at a private ceremony this Saturday in the tiny Italian town of Bernalda where her great grandfather was born. In the first pictures of the day Coppola is seen arm in arm with her new husband, Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars. He definitely made a handsome groom in a custom made  blue suit and tie.

Sofia, who has both designed and modelled for Louis Vuttion, shocked many with her choice of Alaïa. She was expected to choose a design by long term friend Marc Jacobs who she has also modelled perfume for. Coppola was also one of only a select few to attend Alaïa’s last Couture show where media and A-List celebrities were abandoned for close friends like Sofia and Donatella Versace.

We think Sofia, although not the most traditional bride, looks amazing and definetly stands out from the flock of celebrity brides this year.
