The Best Vintage Ebay Stores for Vintage Dresses

Regardless of what that vintage-clad, effortlessly stylish lady in the corner of the faux-bohemian bar might say, thrifting for genuine vintage is dirty, pongy and bloody hard work. Thankfully, for those of us that don’t get our kicks out of sifting through dead people’s clothes, there are places one can go where the sweating has been done for you and the vintage ironed, hung up and stain free. Of these places, only a few remain where you can still grab yourself a bargain. For the purpose of this article let’s concentrate on the online one: EBay. It’s true that remarkable things have been found on eBay, many of which have been bought for extraordinarily low prices. Sometimes, however, trawling through all the rubbish on eBay can seem almost as daunting a task as actually digging through op shops. So, because we love you (and because we’re awful at keeping secrets), we’re going to tell you the best eBay stores for vintage dresses.

Should you have lots of spare cash lying around and you’re the kind of (insane) person that doesn’t mind paying for things that might be overpriced, there are some amazing-but-unfortunately-spoiled-by-success stores that you can visit that, let’s be honest, most of you already know about. Take a look at Indie Cult Vintage, Cops in Jeans (which isn\’t actually that hard on the pocket) and Violetville Vintage if you\’re into that kind of thing. Just remember that, no matter how packed your wallet is, in the end, you’re paying for something that you haven’t tried on, probably can’t return, and what’s convincing you to buy it? The fact that it looks good on a 6 foot, 50 kilogram model who is, in short, a freak of nature. Or on a mannequin, who isn’t even a PART of nature.

If you, like us, don’t have massive wads of cash to throw around, eBaying requires a little more imagination, a little more skill and a little more knowledge. Lots of the cheaper stuff isn’t styled very well (if at all), so you need to have a solid understanding of your style and what suits you. You need to use an auction sniper (there are loads, just Google ‘free auction sniper’) and you need to decide how much you’re willing to pay before you even think about bidding. You also need to know the shops that sell quality stock for cheap. That\’s where we come in. Here are our top ten affordable eBay stores for vintage dresses:

1.   Gary Pepper Vintage

2.   Mel’s Shoppe Vintage

3.   Twitch Vintage

4.   The Mint Mall

5.   Maki Maki Vintage

6.   Thriftwares

7.   Foreva Young Vintage

8.   The Family Vintage

9.   Liebemarlene Vintage

10. Selongta Store

You will, inevitably, discover more stores the more you become familiar with the game. When you do, always, ALWAYS, save them as a favourite seller (and let us in on the secret too, okay?). Too many times have incredible sellers been unearthed only to have their name/URL forgotten. And our biggest tip? Don’t get yourself all glued to the laptop, looking for new stores and stock because real life’s important too. I know far too well how difficult it is to tear yourself away from those endless pages of what is, in truth, mostly crap: Far longer than necessary was spent researching this article. But you know what? When it results in the perfect little vintage dress, it’s totally worth it.

eBay and Etsy are more expensive, but that’s because they have far more traffic and established vintage clothing scenes. At this point using the other services would be like opening a retail store on a rural side street as opposed to a busy vintage clothing mall downtown.
