The Unlikely Pair: Marc Jacobs & Playboy

When I heard that Marc Jacobs was doing a Playboy co-lab my mind immediately sprang to Hugh Hefner and Marc doing glamour shots in a raunchy set-up. Sadly, my dream hasn’t come true, although the most unlikely of pairs have gotten together to show off some bunnies in the Marc by Marc Jacobs boutique on Bleecker Street, this week through to February 18.

The bunnies will wear original costumes from the Playboy vault (what else do you think is there??) and customers will be able to get their photos snapped, flanked by bunnies.

Jacobs’ love affair with bunny ears has been well-documented in the past, so he’d be pleased to know that the lusty live window display is inspired by Hugh Hefner’s Playboy, 6 Volumes, a limited edition book Jacobs’ is selling across the street at Bookmark. The designer also created three Marc Jacobs + Playboy tees, which will go for a $35 a piece with proceeds going to Designers Against AIDS.

Who knows, maybe the Marc Jacobs touch is just the thing to revive Hef’s struggling empire.
