Trend Alert: Wearing Wine

The latest hue to saturate the blogosphere, magazines and the chicest bodies of them all is Red Wine. It’s a colour easily ostracized by fashion-conscious dressers, yet this winter it has received sweeping favour in design circles. Hibernating for the past few decades the revival of this hue has made it look fresh and modern on the runway and the racks!

The trend will also extend to beauty products. We will see the vibrant neon lip shades darkening to deep wine hues as heralded at the Spring 2011 shows for Emmanuel Ungaro and Louis Vuitton (below).

This colour blends seamlessly with other rich hues such as forest green and deep purple and royal navy. However, if you’re ready to experiment try combining it with a few unexpected colours like neon pink!
